• Runs November to April, replacing the furlough scheme when it ends on 31 October.
• Employees must work at least a third of their normal hours, and be paid for that, as normal, by their employer.
• For the remaining hours that the employee is not working, the government and employer will pay a third of the wages each.
• Employees working 33% of their hours will receive at least 77% of their usual pay.
• All small and medium-sized firms will be eligible. Big companies will only qualify if their turnover has fallen by a third.
• The government grant will be capped at £697.92 per month.
• The scheme will be open to businesses across the UK even if they have not previously used the furlough scheme.
